Reviews

ECON1101 is a relatively EZ subject, lab tut is mandatory, quizzes the professor provide is also useful. The mid sem is MCQ, final exam include both MCQ and long answers (account for 50%). Still, I don't know why I only got 32/50 although I'm pretty sure the MCQ is not that hard and I'm very confident with my long answers questions Overall, it's very ez for u to score a D for this unit, but if u want to excel a HD, just need to be more careful in midsem and final exam! p/s: don't need to purchase books, I download a random microecon books on website since the content is still the same over years

This is a really easy unit, and the unit coordinator is incredibly charismatic and engaging. Recommend this unit to anyone, though it will make you jealous of how easy business majors are!

Essentially an extensive repeat of year 11 ATAR microeconomics. It is easy to get a HD if you were good at economics in high school

This unit, along with ECON1102, killed any interest or passion I had for studying economics (and it was one of my best ATAR subjects).

I found this unit incredibly challenging. Inga is a great lecturer and explains concepts well, but I found it hard to match the lectures to the assessments

Very simple course, easy enough to just read from the lecture slides if you took economics in year 11. The assignments are really simple if you follow the marking key.

Very easy to get a D or HD, especially if you did year 11 economics. It repeats the basic concepts of supply/demand and different market structures, with some new concepts that are fairly easy to grasp if you put in the time/effort. The unit was well structured, and the lecturer keeps you engaged. The quizzes are fairly easy. But be aware, a lot of the questions that are on the quiz are in the textbook. So if you want to get a pretty easy D or HD, I highly recommend reading the textbook chapter before you do the weekly quizzes. Overall, I highly recommend this unit.

This unit is only an easy HD if you did Year 11 Economics as most of the concepts of Microeconomics are retaught in this unit. However, even if you did do this subject in high school you should still be warned as the second half of the unit's content is completely different to what is taught in high school. For most people, this unit is compulsory as part of the Commerce degree however if you are doing this unit as a means of an easy HD or to possibly gain a stronger understanding of business, I would not recommend. There are better units out there. This unit is only HDable if you did economics in high school. Although I found the exams and the quizzes fairly okay, I can only say this because I've already learnt Economics in high school. I found the lecturer quite lazy in all honesty, as 80% of the content are taught from Youtube videos made by the lecturer three years ago. This unit was mostly a self-learn subject and when asking the unit lecturer for any help whether it is regarding assessment feedback or help on the content, the lecturer gives a very vague and unhelpful response. The positive reviews that were written before me are quite interesting because I did not have a similar experience and I know many students who believe the same.

This was my favourite unit! Inga is an excellent lecturer who was able to transition this unit seamlessly online during COVID. The quizzes were mostly fair, however be warned that there were some questions where it covered concepts from the textbook but not the lectures. The mid semester exam and the final exam were a breeze. I really enjoyed the assignment even though it contained a few twists. My only gripe was that because of the pandemic we couldn't enjoy face to face interactions during the tutorials, which were conducted via Zoom instead. A lot of the tutorials felt like mini-lectures, however I completely understand that all of us were placed in quite a chaotic semester. Overall, highly recommend this unit if you want an HD!
