Organised by:
UWA Student Guild Queer Department

This year for National Student Volunteer Week Guild Volunteering are partnering with community organisations and representatives from the Guild and UWA to present a week-long series of discussions around the theme of inclusion with a focus on a different topic each night of the week (The Inclusion Series// Guild Volunteering NSVW).

Tonight we are continuing the discussion with Inclusion Series // Gender and Sexuality.

The event will be a little different from your standard 'panel' discussion format, instead taking the form of smaller break-out groups focussing on topics relevant to the broader evening theme, led by members of the student body, university staff, and representatives from community organisations. Participants will have the option to move through the different discussions over the course of the evening.

For tonight's event we are delighted to welcome a selection of passionate and inspiring representatives from our university and local community organisations to discuss a range of topics pertaining to inclusion within the Gender and Sexuality context.

Our discussion leaders and their selected topics are:

Fraser Windsor
Pride Department
Topic: Contexts

Laura Mwiragua
Women's Department
Topic: Intersectionality

Avory Allen / Cara
The Freedom Centre
Topic: Microaggressions Against LGBTIQ people

We hope that through the events, Guild Volunteering will be able to create safe spaces for people to share their lived experience or listen to different perspectives. We also hope to highlight the importance of inclusive practices in volunteering, and provide opportunities for students to connect to the community.

At the conclusion of the discussions, light refreshments will be provided.
