This study break Sustainability Now UWA is partnering with UWA once again to run sustainability audits of buildings on campus! This will be our biggest audits ever covering more than 80,000 m2 which is a huge opportunity to make a difference!

This is an awesome opportunity for you to gain exposure to the field of sustainability and infrastructure. We'll teach you about different building sustainability characteristics such as lights and water fittings. It gives you a good head start in understanding and applying for jobs in sustainability and operations fields! Your volunteer hours will also be recorded and will appear on your volunteering transcript at the end of your degree.

We’ll be running the audits during the Study Break on three days from Tuesday 29th September – Thursday 1st October, which will be fun-packed days! We're looking for volunteers to conduct the audits in small groups of friends and there will be plenty of time to meet new people and play games. UWA's Sustainable Initiatives team will also be providing free pizza, drinks and snacks every day. We would need you to commit to one day of auditing and to be there from 9am-5pm.

UWA Sustainable Initiatives will organise all the training you need on the day. You don't need any previous experience – we will tell you everything you need to know in order to be a fully capable auditor!

UWA uses the infomation collected from our audits to improve the environmental impact of its buildings. Last year the University replaced lights in the Bayliss Building saving 92 tonnes of carbon emissions and this year the University has purchased another 100 LEDs to replace lights in the Business School (saving 17 tonnes of CO2) and rolled out recycling bins to 70 staff in ICRAR. The University is also looking into replacing around 300 inefficient lights in the Science Library found in our last audits!

If you are interested in being involved please shoot us an email at sen.uwa.audits@gmail.com, with the following information:
- which day(s) you’re free
- your contact number is and
- whether you have any dietary requirements (for the FREE pizza!).
