Organised by:
Law Society (TULS)

Red Party returns! Your favourite colouRED event is back for 2016, bigger and better than ever!

Red Party has long been a staple of the Hobart social calendar, originally as part of the Australian Medical Student’s Association’s Red Party campaign against HIV/AIDS. IMPACT Utas, in conjunction with Tasmania University Law Society - TULS and Tasmanian University Medical Students' Society (TUMSS), has taken on the Red Party mantel, bringing you a party in the name of sexual health. Red Party caps off IMPACT’s Red Week, a week of activities education around HIV/AIDS, sexual health and domestic violence.

At Red Party, don’t be surprised if you find condom balloons, photo booths with consent placards, or get offered a cup of tea (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQbei5JGiT8). We’re here for you to have fun, raise money and awareness, and boogie the night away in a socially-conscious kind of way.

You’ll find live music, drinks, food trucks, fires, friends, facepaint and other eclectic frivolities - all sorts of ways to raise money for charity! (So bring your loose change, we’ll love you for it). Funds from the night go directly to TasCAHRD (Tasmanian Council for Aids Hepatitis and related diseases) and SASS (the Sexual Assault Support Service), both of whom will be there on hand to keep you informed throughout the night.

TasCAHRD and SASS provide essential services to the Hobart and broader Tasmanian community. Both are heavily reliant on community donations to provide the services they do, and you can rest assured that each and every dollar donated goes a long way.
- TasCAHRD envisions a “society that values, respects and embraces diversity”. Their Andrew Shaw Foundation (ASF) – where Red Party donations will go – is the only emergency relief funding program for Tasmanians with HIV/AIDS and their carers. The ASF relies solely on donations, and last year provided over $10 000 in direct financial support to those in need. TasCAHRD itself is your one-stop-shop for all your HIV/AIDS info in Tasmania. For further information, visit http://www.tascahrd.org.au/andrew-shaw or call 6234 1242).
- SASS, The Sexual Assault Support Service, is a community-based service providing support and information services to survivors of sexual assault in southern Tasmania, regardless of who you are. Across financial year 2014-15 alone, they directly supported 841 clients (470 adult females, 83 adult males and 288 children), and conducted 68 call-outs (an increase on previous years), They provide a 24/7 rape crisis response hotline, to provide assistance to victims of rape or sexual assault and their families. They provide education sessions for high school and university students, input in broader policy and education, and have a strong presence in the broader community. (If you or someone you know is affected by sexual assault, you can call SASS on 6231 1817. Visit www.SASS.org.au for more).

Put simply, Red Party is a great way to raise funds and awareness for two great causes.

Our venue:
Hobart Brewing Company's Red Shed and Red Square, Macquarie Point. (Some of you might have been to Dark Mofo's Dark Park? Yeah, there. Red Square played host to some Dark Mofo festivities, and now Red Party #locationsnob).

If you're feeling the blues, Red Party will help you add a dash of RED to your day. So come on down, let’s paint the town red. This is an event you don't want to miss, you'll be seeing RED if you do.

Get RED-y. We'll see you there xo

P.s. Free entry
Q: We've always had to dress in red for Red Party. Is that still a thing?
A: If you want to do the annual hunt-through-the-wardrobe-to-find-a-Red-Party-outfit, go for it! If no luck, or your red party outfiit is outdated, we'll have red costume pieces FOR SALE at Red Party. (Proceeds to charity). We'll be in red, but if you're not, don't worry, we're still friends.

Q: What are you doing about tickets?
A: Free entry, no tickets needed, end of story. (There will be donation points throughout the venue if your pockets are heavy with $$ or you need good karma).

Q: Great idea, the whole raising money for charity thing. Can I help raise more money?
A: ABSOLUTELY, thanks for asking! Throughout the week of Red Party (Sept. 19-23, aptly named IMPACT Utas Red Week) you'll find food trucks and RAFFLE TICKETS for sale. Raffle drawn at Red Party. (Again, all proceeds to charity).

Q: Is there cash out?
A: You got it! Cash out is available over the bar, and if you run out of coins for our Loose Change options, there will be bulk shrapnel floating around the event for you to exchange.

Q: I eat like a horse, will there be food?
A: Food trucks, my friend, food trucks. Good value, great food, great cause.

Q: It’s Tassie and it’s cold, can you help me?
A: My friend, RED is a warm colour, therefore is our party not the hottest ticket in town? If you really do feel cold, we’ll have fires in abundance, and good tunes for you to heat up the dance floor with. If you’re still struggling, bring a jacket.
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
AIDS sucks,
So come to Red Party
Red Party, 23/9/16 @ Red Shed, 4pm onwards. Good causes, great night. Tell your friends. See you there.
