Reviews

This is a good way to start sociology as a whole, but 1002 is far more interesting. Overall, a good subject for starters.

I did SCLG1002 first, comparing to which, 1001 is boring and badly structured. You had to do 13 weekly preparations and hand in in class, 12 online quizzes couldn't be missed and 1 group video for only 15% participation, even so, you may only get 70% participation grade! It really depends on your tutor. Some tutors were really nice and others were sooo strict. Unfortunately, my tutor was one of the later type. So only advice here is: good luck!

The unit is fun for the social media geeks who are all around twitter and youtube video filming, but others might have mixed feelings about it, to say the least. I do not feel like I have learnt a lot of substantive content in the unit. But I thought that the American lecturer we had was awesome!

Very interesting, textbook is not that important. Exam was not set out well. Need to be really prepared for small details

I did enjoy learning about my fellow feminist ancestors throughout this course. The Misogyny that takes place in this corrupted world can finally be funneled into my essays for this subject, while intellectual debate takes place in the tutor rooms. I Would highly recommend to my fellow Vegan, Green Warriors

Really interesting subject, if you're interested in how society shapes human behaviour. A great introductory unit which covers a few different areas of sociology. My only criticism is that it is quite theory-based, but the course is mostly taught in an engaging way.

I hated this subject. I was new to uni and unsure about what to study, so I took on this subject thinking it would be interesting. How wrong I was! This subject was so boring! It is very theory-based (think Marxism, etc.). You have been warned.
