Reviews

quite confusing in the beginning but everything you need for the exam is given in the lecture very very clearly which made the exam pretty easy.

Really awesome course but the assessments and the structure of them are horrific. A lot of memorisation but overall a good intro course.

very interesting!

while they boast about increases in student numbers etc, this course is disorganised and lacklustre. Most of your time is spent memorising the names of surface molecules, CD8, IgA, Nasjkhdsahkj213978's and the remaining time chasing after the cc who never replies to student enquiry. One of our quizzes was cancelled, and then come the following week it became "be ready for 2 quizzes". Where's the logic? The lectures are subpar and the tutorials are time wasted. Be prepared for an lab exams/quizzes which tests nothing that you've learnt or is in the manual.

The unit content and labs are quite ok, not easy, but not overly challenging. However, the assessments are honestly complete bs. Unless you're very confident at public speaking, do not take this course. All of the tutorials involve a lot of indiv and grp public speaking on topics that are barely even related to the subject, and there is even a 16.7% assessment that has you do a strict (completely memorised) 5 minute (not 10 seconds more or less) public speech on something that could potentially not even be related to immunology. All in all, it felt like I was taking a unit on public speaking, with a side of basic immunology. As for the other assessments, honestly only the final exam is really to do with the content, and that was only 50% of the total grade. The one star rating is because only 20% of my effort in immu2101 was spent thinking about the actual content itself, the rest of the 80% was spent on random tutorial and public speaking bs,

The teachings in lectures were splendid, however the assessment format during the semester is atrocious. None of which tests you on the knowledge you've learned in class directly.

The content was a bit difficult to grasp at first, but the amazing lecturer (Scott Byrne) and the interesting content make it so worthwhile. Plus, the assessments weren't too difficult. I managed to get 82 overall, so I was very pleased with this subject.
