This is a fairly standard finance subject focused on all aspects of fixed income analysis. In it you will cover ideas such as the inverse relationship between bond prices and yields, the relationship between coupon rates and market rates and how this impacts whether a bond trades at a discount or premium (to face value), and about approximation techniques for estimating the impact of an interest rate change on the value of a bond (duration and convexity). You'll also look at a range of asset-backed securities such as MBS. A good subject to take for people also pursuing the CFA charter as there is quite a bit of overlap between the content of FINC6014 and the fixed income component of Levels I and II of the CFA program. I took this subject in 2013, but the content remains almost the same. I'm well placed to help students taking this subject as I came 2nd in the course (out of 211 students) with a score of 88%.
