Follows on very well from ECMT1020. The first half of the semester is mostly just revision and the lecturer Rebecca Edwards as well as the tutors teach the course very well. Highly recommend this subject to even those that don't want to major in ECMT.

A nice continuation from ECMT1020 - the course is well put together and was fantastic when I did it with Deborah Cobb Clark. However, I have fears she is now no longer there :'(

It's a continuation from what you studied in ECMT1020. Still regression but more difficult. Assignments & questions are STATA-based so brush-up your STATA skills. Exams are quite difficult so you won't do well if you cram.

This was a new course in 2015, however I found it OK. While Jian does give interesting examples and introduces us to famous studies from the econometrics field in his lecture notes, sometimes it wasn't clear what he was trying to say in the notes, in relation to the topic at hand. The textbook helped somewhat, but I felt that there was a lot to go through (even though the first 7 weeks was a revision of ECMT1010 and ECMT1020). The tutor Parinaz was good, having some discussions about the questions, and there were many opportunities to do some computer work with Stata. She also marked our quizzes quite generously and gave us some hints and tips. I have to say that we need more quizzes or other ongoing assessments, as the two quizzes were worth 10% each but only ran for 15 minutes in the tutorial (not enough time for something worth so much). I get that there weren't any past papers for the final since this is the first time this subject was being run; but the final was extremely difficult and unclear - completely different from what we did in tutorials and even the examples in the lecture. Everyone had no idea what they were going into just before the exam. This subject needs to be more coherent in terms of exam questions, as that was a big let-down.

intensely difficult course, but very useful skills to be learnt from it
