FilmSoc Week 9: Meek's Cutoff
20 September, 2016
Old Geology Lecture Theatre
Dir. Kelly Reichardt - 2010 - USA
Directed by American indie filmmaker Kelly Reichardt, MEEK’S CUTOFF, follows a small group of settlers as they slowly make their way across the Oregon Trail in 1845. As the journey stretches on longer than anticipated, the group begins to lose faith in their stubborn hired guide and suspect that they are hopelessly lost. Eschewing traditional notions of plot and drama, Reichardt opts instead for a naturalistic and understated approach, providing a deeply unsettling sense of uncertainty and desperation.
Find us on Tuesday in Old Geology Lecture Theatre. We'll have pizza from 5pm and the screening will start at about 5:15pm. We'll be heading to the Forest Lodge Hotel afterwards for post-film drinks and discussion.
This event is free for members, $5 for Access cardholders. Annual membership is $5 for Access cardholders.
