Old Geology Lecture Theatre

Organised by:
Film Society

Before this week's screening, FilmSoc will be holding a General Meeting to elect a Vice President and Secretary. While these positions will be re-elected before the end of semester at the Annual General Meeting, it's a fantastic opportunity to get involved in FilmSoc (and get your foot in the door for next year). If you're interested, be there on the dot of 5pm. If you can't make it, send us a Facebook message and we can read out your nomination for you.

Right after the GM, we'll be screening David Lynch's bizarro cult classic WILD AT HEART
Dir. David Lynch - 1990 - USA

WILD AT HEART stars Nic Cage and Laura Dern as Sailor and Lula, two young lovers who embark on a cross-country road trip, pursued by a rogues gallery of menacing weirdos that Lula’s mother has hired to kill Sailor. The film won the Palme d’Or at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival and it was certainly a bold choice. By turns hilarious and horrifying, with an on-point soundtrack, a colourful cast of characters, occasional references to the Wizard of Oz, and show-stopping performances delivered by Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern, this is David Lynch at his most flamboyantly strange and deliriously entertaining. Oh, and if you’ve ever wanted to see Nic croon along to Elvis, then this is the movie for you. Come along for a crime thriller-comedy-musical-road movie like no other.

Find us on Tuesday in Old Geology Lecture Theatre. We'll have pizza from 5pm and the screening will start at about 5:30pm. We'll be heading to the Forest Lodge Hotel afterwards for post-film drinks and discussion.

This event is free for members, $5 for Access cardholders. Annual membership is $5 for Access cardholders.
