The Sydney Nursing School will be celebrating Close the Gap this year in partnership with SUNS and MIRAGE. The Close the Gap Campaign is celebrated each year to remind us of the Federal Government targets to close the 10 – 17 year life expectance gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and other Australians. The event will be celebrated nationally on the 16th March 2017.
The Close the Gap Campaign is a major initiative of OXFAM who support organisations in celebrating the event. We are excited to have join us for the day Uncle Greg Simms, a Gadigal Elder who will be showcasing his traditional Aboriginal wood carving skills as well as providing the official ‘Welcome to Country’. In attendance will also be members of the SNS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Group, who are key players in increasing the cultural competence of the Sydney Nursing School. Please all come along and celebrate with us.
