The UQ Big Band has had an extraordinary year touring the USA where they worked and performed with jazz greats Randy Brecker, Gordon Goodwin and Bob Mintzer. Since their return, they have been busy performing acoss Brisbane at a host of different venues including a packed triple-set at the Brisbane Jazz Club.

As the final gig of the year, the UQ Big Band is premiering numerous electronic big band charts for the first time in Australia. This includes songs by Austrian composer Horst-Michael Schaffer (Jazz Big Band Graz), arrangements of German electronic band Kraftwerk (Hessischer Rundfunk Big Band), minimalist grooves by Markus Geiselhart and a psychedelic interpretation of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! The band will also be performing a new work composed for the band by Chris Perren of the AMC. Come along for a fantastic chance to experience some of the latest modern jazz from Europe and explore the spaces between electronic music, jazz, literature, african music and pop culture.
