Welcome to Death Café. Please come in, take a seat. Would you like some cake?

>>What is Death Café?
Death Café was founded by Jon Underwood inspired by the work of Bernard Crettaz in 2010. It is a not-for-profit organisation with a singular goal: to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives. Each event provides an open, respectful and confidential space where people can express their views safely.

>>What actually happens there?
At a Death Cafe event, people (often strangers) gather to eat, drink, and chat about death-related topics. The discussion is group-directed and allows for open and honest conversation. There is no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action, it’s simply a chance to talk about something that we so often have trouble talking about: death.

>>Cool. Details!
This event will be held in the Psychology Courtyard, which is on Level 2 of McElwain (building 24A). The event is at UQ but everyone is welcome, even if you’re not a student or staff member. Nibbles and beverages will be provided.

Check out the Death Cafe website (http://deathcafe.com/) or Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/deathcafe/) for more info.

Our thanks to the School of Psychology and Psychology Students’ Association for their support.
