When:
8 August, 2015

Location:
Victoria Park Golf Complex

Organised by:
Economics Society (UQES)

Alan Greenspan has expounded the virtues of thinking in the bath, and our social director took this on board when deliberating on the premier social event of our calendar. As he relaxed, poring over dusty tomes of economic achievement, he noticed one consistent theme.

Keynes’ love life. Friedman’s advice to a military dictatorship. Stiglitz’s adorable, yet slightly confusing speech impediment. Economics is nothing if not full of intrigue.

As such, it is our absolute pleasure to present a night replete with it - the 2015 UQES ball, proudly sponsored by CPA.

Beginning at 7pm on the 8th August, we look forward to a splendorous evening of old friends and new memories. The event will be held in the ballroom at Victoria Park Golf Course - starting with drinks on our private balcony before moving inside for a two-course sit down affair (this will be no study of Malthusian subsistence). First release of tickets will be on Wednesday the 10th June at 7pm. After a record-fast sell out of pub crawl, make sure you get in quickly; this is a night not to be missed.

First release of tickets: Member ticket $100. Non-Member ticket $105. Individual tickets when buying a whole table are $95.

Second release of tickets: Member ticket $110. Non-member ticket $115. Individual tickets when buying a whole table are $105.

As befitting an event honouring such a distinguished field, dress is black tie.

The great man himself once said,

“The day is not far off when the economic problem will take the back seat where it belongs, and the arena of the heart and the head will be occupied or reoccupied, by our real problems -- the problems of life and of human relations…”

Consider that a personal invitation to shrug off academic responsibilities - if only for one night. If there’s one thing that we as a society strive for, it’s to provide an abundance of opportunity for human relations. The UQES Ball is our premier attempt, and we simply cannot wait to for you to join us in the revelries.
