Reviews

Above reviews are still accurate in 2020 except that assignment marking is difficult for 300 students in covid times so feedback is not great. You can choose your own programming language for the labs/assignments. The options are: C, C++, python and java. But choose python! Exam is written and you can explain some answers in pseudo code. This was the most challenging subject so far especially the assignments.

This subject is very interesting, but also challenging at the same time. The lecturer speaks a bit too fast even on complex topics so revision is necessary to understand completely. Assignments can be difficult and you really need to put efforts into it. But I believe this is one of the most important subjects for BCompSci and students should not take it lightly. Tutors are very helpful when it comes to lab tasks and assignments. Recommended for students who are quite adept at programming (has taken at least 3 programming subjects). Students who are inexperienced with programming will struggle immensely.

It's a really hard subject. Need to work really hard for the assignments!
