Seize Your Day, Mindfully
with UOW Yoga and Meditation Club and Wollongong University Medical Students' Society - WUMSS.

Across 8 morning sessions, this meditation series hopes to improve wellbeing in the UOW community. At university, there are plenty of situations in which the urgency of needing to do things can consume us. Starting the day with control will help us feel better and perform better in all aspects of studying. Let's take a breath in, and regain awareness over our body, our mind, our health.

Dates: 8 consecutive Wednesdays
20, 27 April; 4, 11, 18, 25 May; 1, 8 June
Time: 7:30-8:30am
Location: Building 41, Room 107

*COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST will be provided at each session to nourish participants before we champion the day.

Ticket registration is essential and free for current UOW students. Staff and visitors welcome and we ask for your contribution towards breakfast fund.

This 8-week program is the same as run by the Gawler Foundation and was developed by Dr Ian Gawler and Paul Bedson. It is suitable for anyone who is interested in learning about or deepening their practice of mindfulness meditation.

~ Learn how to meditate using mindfulness
~ Experience a mixture of theory and practice
~ Learn how meditation can be an effective and powerful antidote to stress and illness
~ Learn how to develop a sense of peace and stability
~ Develop confidence in your meditation skills so that you can effectively implement it into your daily life.

Instructor Donna has practised mindfulness since she was a young girl. Growing over 40 years of experience in her experience and trainings on the subject, UOWYOGA is extremely grateful to Donnah on volunteering service for the benefits of students and staff at UOW. More about Donnah here http://lotuspatch.com.au/about/

This series encourages participants to consider attending all the sessions. Whilst we hope everyone maintains this intention, we understand that circumstances could change. 100% attendance is not compulsory, but highly encouraged. Cohesion of the same participants promotes social connections within the group too, and we would facilitate this with free coffee and breakfast at the end of each session to enjoy over conversations.

Bonus prize:
There will be special and limited prize to reward participation of 6 sessions or more. The earliest participants who complete 6 sessions (e.g. full attendance at session 6) will get the prizes before others.
