This was a mandatory subject for me and a complete waste of time. Extremely boring lectures and tutorials, required reflections of readings that were of no relation to my course but easy to get marks in. I found it to be self directed in terms of learning, assessment explanations were extremely vague with conflicting statements made all the time by the people who are meant to know wha was happening. Wouldn't recommend it but if that's your thing then sure.

A required subject for me that was very misleading by the title of the class. Required a lot of reading and mandatory blog posts - which were easy but tedious and annoyingly marked. Tutorials involved a lot of group discussion which was fine to bounce ideas off each other however my tutor made me feel inadequate by commenting on me not having much to say... I can't help not understanding what we were talking about, despite doing the readings and following the guides and asking questions. Assessments vague and overall irritating. Wouldn't recommend personally, but I know a lot of people who loved it.

I chose this subject as I throughly enjoyed ARTS1870 the previous semester. The lecturer knows what he is talking about however is slightly dry. The tutors, as usual for sociology/anthropology, are fun and engaging and young. Interesting perspectives are looked at and how we interact with others. Assessment is online (60% blog/moodle related) and a 40% final essay.
