This form is for those wishing to apply to compete in the Kirby Contract Moot Moot. Before applying for this moot, please ensure that you have read and understood the External Competitions Policy (available here: http://www.unswlawsoc.org/competition-resources/).

The Kirby Contract Mooting competition is an excellent competition for mooters of all levels to participate in. UNSW will send a team of 4 students. The Kirby Contracts Moot attempts to resemble what takes place in a real-life arbitration, and thus differs from the normal appellate court focus of a 'standard' mooting competition. The Problem has a small set of Agreed Facts (as in standard moots), followed by a series of exhibits which form the bulk of the evidence (letters of negotiation, evidence etc.).

The key dates for this competition are as follows:

Applications open on 23 June.
Applications close on 7 July at midnight.
Applicants will be informed of results by 10 July.
Claimant submissions are due by 22 August.
Respondent submissions are due by 9 September
The oral rounds of the competition will be held between 26-29 September in Melbourne at Victoria University.

Registration for the comp is $600, which LawSoc will subsidise. Competitors will have to pay for their own flights and accommodation in Melbourne for the competition. In addition, there is a gala dinner for the competition that costs $65 per head. If the team wishes to attend, they must also cover this cost

Further information about the comp can be found here: https://www.vu.edu.au/news-events/events/conferences-exhibitions-special-events/kirby-moot#goto-compete=1&goto-judge-or-mentor=1&goto-volunteer-or-observe=1
