The AAT Mooting competition is an excellent competition for mooters of all levels to participate in. UNSW will select up to three teams to compete in the 2016 competition, each comprising three members: two students who act as senior and junior counsel and one researcher.

Prior knowledge: Knowledge of administrative law is not required – competitors who have not completed Administrative Law will be set a small number of readings in the inter-semester break to provide them with the necessary background knowledge.

In 2010, a UNSW team won the competition, having appeared in the grand final before the Honourable Justice Garry Downes.

The key dates for this competition are as follows:

Applications open on 3 June.
Applications close on 26 June at midnight.
Applicants will be informed of results by 3 July.
Preliminary round problem question released on 22 July.
Preliminary round written submissions due by 29 July.
The preliminary rounds of the competition will be held between 2-4 August.
