It’s iftaar time. You turn on the tap and out pours a stream of clean water. You take a sip and quench your thirst.

It’s iftaar time. Your mother hands you a cup: its clouded and murky. You take a sip and your thirst still feels unquenched.

“And waste not by extravagance. Verily He (Allah) likes not al-Musrifoon.” (Quran 6:141)

Ramadan Mubarak everyone!

This Ramadan, IAFUNSW will be hosting a “Build a Well” charity drive. The aim is to reach $7000 by the end of the month Insha’Allah!

Being deprived of food and water, we truly come to appreciate the value of it. Something as simple as having clean water to drink is a huge blessing that can easily be taken for granted. Around 2.4 billion people lack access to adequate water supplies. Many diseases are spread due to lack of water or by drinking polluted water.

The Prophet (saw) said, “the best charity is giving water to drink”. [Ahmad]

All of the funds donated will be sent to Human Appeal International for their water well projects. The campaign aims to build water wells and distribute drinking water in places of crisis. With campaigns like this, you can contribute as much or as little as you like and still be able to gain the reward of fulfilling the need of thirsty person(s). You can choose to do it all at once, or small amounts throughout the month of Ramadan.

Not only that, but this is a beautiful form of Sadaqa Jariya – meaning that you will continue to be rewarded as long as the recipient is able to benefit from it. SubhanAllah!

If you are keen to be part of this noble cause, transfer your funds to this bank account.
