UNSW Law Society

What is it?
The Career Compass Program is a new initiative; aimed at providing students with both the opportunity to gain professional insights into the career path they desire, and also guidance in figuring out the career path they're seeking. The program seeks to assist you in your professional development; pairing you up with a Mentor to provide that support, as you navigate your way through your law degree into the working sphere.

Who are we looking for?
We are currently looking for UNSW Law students in their 3rd, 4th, or 5th year of an undergraduate law degree (with preference given to students more progressed in their degree). All our mentors will be giving up time in their busy schedules in order to help students.

Please do not apply if you are not willing to show them the utmost respect and represent yourself and the UNSW Law Society appropriately. It is critical that you actively ensure that you can invest your time into this program.

What does being a mentee involve?
As a mentee, you will be required to attend the following COMPULSORY events:
1. Launch Night on Tuesday 2nd October 2016 (Time TBC) (Semester 2, Week 2) where you will be first introduced to your professional mentor; and
2. Closing Finale Night (TBC)
3. Thank you letter writing (TBC)

Both mentor and mentee will arrange future meeting times, frequency of contact and method of correspondence. This process is flexible and at the discretion of the mentor and mentee.

Why should I get involved?
The program will allow you to form meaningful relationships with professionals in the legal sphere, point you towards the career that suits you and provide you with deeper insights into your legal/practice areas of interest.
