Hello everyone and welcome to the first weekly screening for the UNSW Film Society for 2017! We are truly starting off with a bang with our screening of the classic comedy/drama Life Is Beautiful (1997).

This Italian comedy-drama film directed by and starring Roberto Benigni (co-written with Vincenzo Cerami) is about a Jewish Italian book shop owner who employs his incredible imagination to shield his son from the horrors of internment in a Nazi concentration camp. The film won the Grand Prix at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival, nine David di Donatello Awards including Best Film in Italy and three Academy Awards including Best Actor for Benigni whose performance had “surprising depth and poignancy”. A definite must-see for any film lovers and the start of an awesome line up this semester come join us for the start of an awesome year in the Film Society!

Pizza and drinks will be served at 6pm before the film screening at 6:30pm in the Central Lecture Block so come and enjoy the company of your fellow film lovers. Please click GOING if you’re coming so we order enough pizza :)
