Just refreshing what you've gone through in high school with a little extra information. During the first 6 weeks we had Roger Rassool, which was a lot of fun. He did a lot of experiments and showed how physics worked in the real world. However, you had to learn the topics yourself beforehand because he didn't teach the ordinary way.

If you're new to the mathematics (VCE specialist level) you may struggle. If you've done it before or have good work ethic you should be fine. Don't do this subject to fill in your timetable though - 7 contact hours is a killer if you don't have a good reason to be doing it.

Extension of high school physics. First 6 weeks is largely a recap of year 12 with very little new content. Second half covers special relativity and waves

interesting but quite challenging. if you are struggling, seek help early.

It's not the hardest subject. Honestly. Lots of the subject is just an extension of year 12. However, there's more maths to it. It is heavily suggested that you understand the purpose of calculus in physics. Also, learn how formulas work and EXACTLY when to use them. Special relativity can be challenging, while optics is just dull. Unfortunately.

Went to all the lectures, didn't learn a thing. Very hard to follow. The tutes were more helpful, but I basically got through the exam on year 12 knowledge. Pracs were a few easy marks, and a bit fun.

Engaging and challenging. However Roger Rassoul is a terrible lecturer, he focuses more on trying to be your mate and telling anecdotes than actual coursework.

Much of the content is similar to VCE physics. Be prepared for a lot of contact hours. There are a lot of available resources to help you, also a good idea to buy the textbook.

The first few weeks are a bit of a rehash of VCE Physics 3/4 (with a little of Specialist Maths 3/4) but after that it moves into new and highly interesting territory. Roger is an informative and highly entertaining lecturer, and Jeff McCallum equally as passionate. The pracs won't always work properly but that's not so bad because the prac tutors are great people so everyone has a laugh and moves on.
