one of my fave subjects! every week we watched a film and tutorials were spent just analysing them in relation to the lecture. the film selection was great and i was also introduced to some films i wouldnt have watched that ended up becoming favourites. workload is straightforward and is only three essays, other than that its chill.

Great subject and would recommend as an elective/breadth! I took this subject with zero prior knowledge in film studies but as long as you know the weekly movies and pay attention to the lectures, you're good. In overall, a chill subject, in terms of lectures, tutorials and assessment. Some weeks are definitely more interesting than others for me but at the end, I enjoyed what I learned about. The workload is definitely manageable and is one of my easiest subjects in the semester. The last essay bumped my grades to a H1 overall

Great content. A lot of readings were needed, certain topics were kind of hard to understand, not very easy to get good scores. If you really love movies and all the theories related to screening and culture you will defiantly enjoy this subject.

This subject has something in it for everyone. From unpacking film visual and sound to studying trauma and feminist theories, the topics were varied and fascinating. Great films informed these theories/film elements! Lectures and tuts were engaging and enjoyable. The assessments weren’t too difficult.

Amazing subject! We watched great movies that were relevant to the course, and created interesting discussions in tutorials. Lectures could be dry in moments, but overall they were enjoyable and helpful for assessments. Laura was an awesome tutor with lots of resources and support. Easy subject for a H1 if you put in the work, I would highly recommend!
