Reviews

This subject was overall really engaging and interesting! The teaching staff are all really passionate about what they do, and it's obvious from their teaching style. Matteo and Antonella are absolutely wonderful and I really felt an improvement in my Italian ability this year. Sometimes the seminar content (about gender in modern Italy) was a bit repetitive, but it was still at the least interesting. Definitely a worthwhile experience and good for improving your language ability, listening, reading and analysing texts. Advice: MAKE SURE YOU READ THE BOOK. Idk about other years, but we studied Pinocchio, and you definitely have to keep up, because otherwise the tutes will make absolutely zero sense. It was my first time reading an Italian novel, and the experience was challenging but super rewarding, also it's a very fun book. This subject is also probably where you'll make your best friendships because it's a small cohort. (Don't forget to join the Italian club too for free pizza)

The tutes in this subject are the biggest waste of time and i felt like my italian became worse instead of improved this semester... The conversation class, however, was interesting at times and actually helped my speaking skills. Obviously if you enjoy italian you should enjoy this subject however be prepared to feel like you aren't gaining anything from the course except for some friends ofcourse as it's a small cohort :)
