Back when I did this subject, it had a weird set-up of lecturers, tutorials and language seminars. The lectures mostly concerned old German literature and the effects of historical events on the literature, in the tutorials we discussed the assigned readings of said literature. What annoyed me is the order in which the literature was covered - from the oldest stuff to the newest stuff, even though modern German is much easier to understand than old German, and our skills are meant to improve as the semester goes by. The language seminars were the only part of this subject which I found useful. We went through a few aspects of advanced grammar, but mostly we just spoke in German, gave presentations in German and wrote essays in German. I stopped my German studies after this subject, but continued to crash the language seminars of German 6 for a while, with permission from the teacher. (P.S. A really well taught subject with integrated learning across lectures, seminars and tutorials. A super well co-ordinated team, all of whom are very enthusiastic about the language and culture. Most tutors/lecturers are native speakers and an engaging student-body consists of many with travel experiences to Germany and German heritage.
