Grade: 87. The lecturers for this subject were good and their explanations were clear. Tutorials allowed you to test your understanding and ask questions which was nice. The content was also very interesting, you'll find that you look forward to studying this subject. The one issue I had with this subject was the exam, however. I did all the readings and tried to gain a deep understanding of the content, but I was somewhat disappointed when the exam didn't really test your understanding that much, as they just loaded it up with several of the algebraically messy oligopoly questions. At the time my maths was rusty so I kinda tanked the exam because I wasn't expecting that. Also they don't release practice papers, only give you a pdf of questions. So definitely go onto the online library and have a read through the practice papers there to actually get a feel on how you're going to be assessed. Still a pretty decent subject though

Did this as a breadth for the BSc, very easy assignments and well organised. However, the exam is pretty hard so be prepared for that, because if you are not, failing is certainly a possibility. Im pretty sure it does scale up a bit though, so there's that.

BSci student here, really enjoyed this subject! I'd never done any commerce subjects before and found it pretty interesting. Make sure you understand what is happening and know a few specific key terms + examples and how to apply them and you'll be fine!

Not bad

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2022

The various econ subjects are interesting. Sometimes got a bit frustrated with the strange grey zone of slightly rigorous and mathematical but not really.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2019

A really interesting subject which provides a very good introduction to Economics. While the Maths at the backend of the subject can be challenging, the subject overall is quite easy.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2021

I struggle with maths but this subject was really interesting regardless! As long as you put in the extra effort and keep up with the content, you can score high! Assignments were very difficult, but final exam was similar to practice exams. Make sure you understand everything as it is easy to misunderstand concepts.

RLLY ENJOYED THIS SUBJECT i actually come from an Arts background, so choosing economics was VERY daunting. I was SO scared that I wont be able to do well. But it turns out alright! As long as you put in efforts, the content should be relatively easy to handle :))

Bit technical but not too technical, first yr unit. Fair bit of work and getting head around but honestly not too gnarly. Very h1able and the effort you put in will definitely be reflected in your result.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2019

It is an interesting subject and the concepts are easy to grasp. However if you have not done economics before, you must make sure that you understand the logic behind it. The subject will be easier to understand and remember then.
