When:
6 July, 2015

Location:

Organised by:
Melbourne University Shakespeare Company (MUSC)

MUSC is now seeking applications for the production team of ‘Athens Reborn’. The show will be performed at the University of Melbourne in late September/early October, and previewing a few scenes at Mudfest.

Frustrated by people continually ignoring and excusing the elements of misogyny in Shakespeare’s work, Kim Ho has written a play that interrupts the canon of Renaissance theatre, using Shakespearian language and a classical setting to tell a story that prioritises and champions women. Set during the Thirty Tyrants' reign over Athens, we follow unlikely hero Imogen as she restores democracy to her city and her people.

Apply to be a part of the team for this new, exciting feminist play, to be directed by Kate Weston.

Applicants should be aware that the work will be staged in the steps of the architecture building of the Parkville campus of the University of Melbourne, and as such we would love to hear any ideas you have for working in this space! Furthermore, some roles (especially design roles) will have very light/no duties for the preview in Mudfest, and will be required more for the run in September/October. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this.

We are now seeking applications for:

Publicity Manager
Assistant Director
Stage Manager
Set Designer
Costume Designer
Lighting Designer
Sound Designer
Makeup and Hair Designer

Please send all applications and inquiries to athensreborn@gmail.com (*** please note this is NOT the regular MUSC email***) with your mobile number, theatrical CV (if you have one), and a short paragraph on why you would be well-suited to the role. Applications close midnight, July 19.

Applicants are welcome to apply for multiple positions! We will be accepting applications from non-students, but if you study at the University of Melbourne, please state your course and student number.
