Union House Theatre

Organised by:
Theatre Students Society

Union House Theatre is incredibly excited to announce our Semester 2 production:

Written by Kim Ho
Directed by Petra Kalive

We are currently looking for Uni Melb student actors to help develop this exciting new work.

About the show:
Sea Lake is dying-- a tiny drought-stricken town in the heart of the Mallee. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a busload of Chinese tourists turns up to take photos on the beautiful salt lake nearby. Not far behind them is Kai, fleeing Melbourne broken and adrift. As Kai begins to understand this strange new place, its histories, cultures and stories refract through one another. Mirror’s Edge explores the complexities of cross-cultural encounters.

Please note that this show is in the development stage, casting in this part of the process will not guarantee a role in the final production. As with all developments the show will grow and change and the role that you are cast in now may not exist in 3 months time.

We are looking for actors who are open to developing new work, may have musical ability, and who are up for a challenge.
Roles are open to students of all genders. They include (but not necessarily limited to):
KAI – New to town, Chinese/Caucasian, early 30’s
XIAOYU – International student from China, 20’s
LEANNE – Runs the pub, Caucasian, late 40’s
JASMIN – Indigenous heritage, mid 20’s-30’s. PhD student in Archaeoastronomy, studying Indigenous astronomical traditions.
CHORUS OF VOICES - Actors of all ethnicities invited to apply.

For more information and to book an audition time please email Petra at artistic@union.unimelb.edu.au and include which role you are interested in and your contact details.
Auditions will be held in the coming week and times will be made according to individual availability.
