Guten Tag, FilmSocers and MUGCers!

In collaboration with the esteemed Melbourne University German Club (MUGC), we are here to present:

Das Boot (1981, Wolfgang Peterson) ~ ‘The Boat’

An adaptation the book of the same name, Das Boot follows the lives of the crew on the fictitious U-96. It portrays the human nature of the people on the U-Boats, the fervour of war and the tedium of the fruitless hunt. Das Boot has won critical acclaim worldwide and with a budget cost of 32 million DM (~ $18.5 million) it is one of the most expensive films in German Cinema history.

So come along for the ride of a life time and bring your friends! Of course, we have free pizza and drinks.

Since we are fraternising with ze Germans, it wouldn’t be right without copious amounts of alcohol. Following the screening we will be proceeding to Shaw Davey Slum (171-175 Elgin Street, Carlton VIC 3053) where much beer and wedges will be had. Being the considerate societies we are, a considerable amount of this will be FREE.

Film Society & German Club

Note: The event is free for members of either club. Also make sure to click attending on the Facebook event so we can cater for the appropriate amount of people.
