9 September, 2016

Brown Theatre, Electrical Engineering Building

Organised by:
Film Society

Hello Filmsocers!

After a lot of delay, we can finally confirm that the AGM will be next week (Week 7) on Friday 9th of September (turn up 1:15pm for a 1:30pm start)!

Following the AGM we will have our usual film screening with FREE PIZZA of course (it's a collaboration with the Astronomical Society – there will be a separate event for it soon).

What is an AGM I hear you ask?
An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is required for YOU (our members) to approve new constitutional amendments and to nominate and elect members to fill new committee roles.

Positions that need to be filled include President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary and 3-6 General Committee spots. So if you think you would be totally awesome at running the society, nominate yourself on the day, give a little spiel about what you'd like to do whilst on the committee then let the people decide. All nominations and voting will happen at the AGM so if you're interested in running for a committee position, make sure you're free to come along!

Here's a general indication of things you could be doing on committee:
Writing spiels for the films, helping to select and purchase drinks and pizza for the screenings, helping with film and collaboration choices, promoting events (social media, posters, flyers, stall at Union House), and organising events (e.g. outings to local cinemas).

You should definitely apply if you:
-love films
-come to most of our screenings anyway (and will be free on Friday afternoons next semester too)
-are responsive on Facebook chat
-want to make some new friends
-want to help make our club even bigger and better!

Friday 9th September, 1:30pm (try to turn up 15mins earlier!)
