Hi FilmSocers and Music Students!

This week we are extremely enthusiastic to be collaborating with the Music Student Society to present to you the critically acclaimed musical:

WEST SIDE STORY (Wise & Robbins, 1961)

On the west side of New York City, the Jets and the Sharks are gang rivals whose feud makes a small connection when Tony, a founder of the Jets but now inactive member of the gang, and Maria, the recently arrived sister of the Sharks' leader Bernardo, spot each other across the crowded room and fall in love at first sight. Their relationship gets complicated when their former and current relations with the Jets and the Sharks hinder their relationship.

This modern day "Romeo and Juliet" film was adapted from the original hit Broadway musical. West Side Story was nominated for a whopping 11 Academy Awards and astonishingly went on to win 10 of the nominations. The movie is a must watch for any film or music enthusiast!

As usual, there will be FREE pizza and drinks provided!

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE: After the screening at ~5pm, we'll be heading down to the Shaw Davey Slum (5 mins walk from uni) for FREE BEER/CIDER & CHIPS and a chat about the film and/or music- just follow the committee after the screening!

Friday 23rd September, 2pm
