The AULSS and College of Law are pleased to present the final SOCIAL JUSTICE BREAKFAST for 2015!

Join us for a delicious breakfast at Public with your friends and peers to hear The Honourable Chief Justice Kourakis speak about social justice matters in Australia.

The Hon. Christopher Kourakis is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of South Australia. After growing up in Port Lincoln as part of a migrant family, he was educated at the University of Adelaide (LL B, 1981) before being admitted to legal practice in 1982. He began his career at the Legal Services Commission and joined the bar in 1989. Chief Justice Kourakis was President of the Law Society of South Australia in 2001-2, and was appointed as South Australia’s Solicitor-General in 2003, holding that position for five years before being appointed to the Supreme Court in 2008.

From early on in his legal studies, Chief Justice Kourakis had a strong social justice perspective, and became well-known for this when he entered the legal profession. He says the cases he took, and the reduced rates and pro bono work he offered, played a large part in developing his skills and improving his work as a lawyer.
