Tina
Hi there! I am a psychology and linguistics tutor with a strong focus on statistics, phonetics, and syntax. I am also a psychology student with a WAM of 94, and I currently work for the university as a WriteWISE Leader. I have been a tutor for several years and aim to make learning as fun as possible for all my students. Check out the references below! :)

*** Please note that my schedule gets filled up quite quickly, so it's best to book tutoring sessions a week in advance. ***

PSYU2248:
My grade for PSYU2248 was a High Distinction (98), and I received the Department of Psychology prize for the most meritorious performance in Design and Statistics II (2019). My assessment marks were:
- 100% for assignment 1
- 100% for assignment 2
- 100% for all quizzes
- 92% for the mid-semester exam
- 100% for the final exam
I am really passionate about helping students to succeed in this unit and am well-known for my ability in explaining statistical concepts. The key to doing well in PSYU2248 is to translate the statistics into everyday language that makes sense to you! I can definitely help with this. I tutored for this unit in Session 3 2019 and am currently tutoring several students in Session 2 2020, so I'm very familiar with all aspects of the content (including Stata). I have also prepared practice multiple-choice questions to help my students prepare for the quizzes and exams. If you'd like some assistance with PSYU2248, I'm here to help! My goal is to help you feel confident in your understanding of statistics (and also enjoy it!).

PSYU1105:
Available for statistics tutoring only.

LING1111:
My grade for LING1111 was a High Distinction, and I received 90-100% for all assignments. I completely understand that the content in this unit can be a bit daunting at first, but I can assure you that you'll enjoy it once you get the hang of it!

Here is a phonemic transcription tip to get you started:
Remember, each syllable has one nucleus (vowel sound). So, the number of syllables in a word equals the number of vowel sounds in that word. Hope this helps with those tricky words such as 'spontaneity' (spon-teh-nay-eh-tee).
5 syllables = 5 vowel sounds in your transcription

LING2217 & LING2220:
I achieved High Distinctions for LING2217 and LING2220. I received 97% for the transcription assignment and 95-100% for the syntax problem sets and in-class quizzes. I have been tutoring for LING units for a number of years and can help you work on understanding and applying the concepts that are taught in these units.

COGS1010:
My grade for COGS1010 was a High Distinction (97), and I received a Department of Cognitive Science award for my performance in this unit.

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions! :)

Tina is an absolute legend! I needed extra help for PSY248 and she was able to explain complex processes in the simplest form so even I could understand statistics! Definitely wouldn’t have gotten the marks I did without her and she is extremely generous with her time. Would highly recommend her help even if it’s just to clarify some hazy concepts of statistics. She knows it all!

Tina tutored me for Psy248 session 3, she was amazing. When I contacted her I had no understanding of the content whatsoever. She was able to help me grasp the main concepts of each topic(test). After my sessions with Tina I can safely say that stats is actually not that bad. I highly recommend her.

P.S.
She has her own practice exam! Love her work!

Tina is THE BEST! She took me on for PSY248 at the last minute (two weeks before exams!). She goes out of her way to work with your schedule, making herself available. And as a tutor she is amazing. Helpful, clear, articulate, relaxed and friendly. She takes her job very seriously - obviously investing a lot of time in planning and preparing. Including creating example tests and help sheets. She styles the sessions around your areas of weakness and provides helpful suggestions on where to focus your efforts and time. I cannot recommend Tina more highly, she is worth every cent and more!

I contacted Tina when completing PSY248 (statistics) in sem 3. As someone who finds statistics hard to comprehend, contacting Tina was the best thing I did. Tina went above and beyond in explaining topics which I didn’t understand and worked through multiple examples with me. She created practice questions for me to solve as a study method with detailed explanations attached to each answer. Tina was absolutely lovely and I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone completing statistics subjects! I will be contacting her for other subjects!

Tina tutored me for LING111 and was honestly so helpful in every aspect of the course work. Concepts that would take me 1 hour to grasp myself, I was able to learn from her explanation in 3 minutes. She has a gift and honestly was the nicest tutor! I couldn’t recommend her more. Thanks for everything Tina!! :)

Tina was a fantastic tutor for LING111 - and helped me go from a very basic understanding to enjoying even syntax trees.

She was accommodating, flexible with sessions, and was a natural at teaching. Nothing was ever 'too much' to explain.

Thanks again Tina!

Tina helped me prepared for my LING220 final exam. She was fantastic in assisting me to understand concepts and skills in the unit I didn’t understand. She taught me how to apply the skills and was really encouraging with things I didn’t understand. Her tutoring style is really great and after finishing a session with her I walked away with understanding and confidence. I wouldn’t hesitate to ask her for help with any of my other units and overall she was so kind and understanding. Thankyou Tina!!

Tina is an amazing tutor. I had problems understanding all parts of LING 111, especially syntax and had failed the course once before meeting Tina.
This time I am receiving high distinctions and I owe it to Tina's assistance. She is better at explaining the concepts than other tutors from university. For me it is definitely worth it to have Tina as a tutor.
