Hi I'm Gemma and I have completed my Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and graduating with a H1 average. Following this I completed my Honours degree in Medical Biology at WEHI, also graduating with a H1 and securing a scholarship to complete my PhD studies.
I am happy to tutor sessions at $50/hr for individuals or $35/hr each for groups of two to four people. I am also happy to provide one-off sessions for proofreading/editing of assignments at $50/hr. All sessions can be done in person (libraries on campus) or online (Skype/Zoom). Please note due to COVID-19 all sessions will be conducted online.
I have access to all of my notes for the subjects listed to aid in my teaching and your understanding of topics. These notes and a subset of practice exam answers are also available on request. I have tutored for the past 6 years so have experience in adapting sessions to suit your needs.
Feel free to message me with any enquiries or questions! :)

Gemma has an incredibly detailed understanding of the BCMB20002 course.
Her notes are very in depth, she was able to explain concepts in a way that was very accessible and easy for me to digest.
She is professional but easygoing and friendly, I highly recommend her as a tutor!

Gemma was an amazing help throughout BCMB20002. Especially since lectures are now all online, some concepts were difficult to understand and it was hard to ask lecturers for help since you only see them once a week for a workshop. She has a thorough understanding of the content that was taught and took the time to look into any concepts that she wasn't 100% about. Her guidance throughout the semester and tips for msts and exams helped me to do well in the assessments and her notes were a useful additional to help with summarising the key ideas within each module. Would highly recommend Gemma as a tutor

Gemma helped so much with BCMB20002 and some of the hard to grasp concepts. If she didn't already know some of the questions, she would make sure to follow up with an answer within the week. Her notes are also a great supplement to have at your disposal. Highly recommend her as a tutor

Gemma has been the most incredible tutor for Biochemistry and molecular biology. She has the ability to break complex concepts down and with her tips and tricks makes them easy to remember. She is super flexible and easy going, making her lovely to work with. She took me from barely passing my first MST to a H1 in my exam. Could not recommend more highly.

Gemma has been such an incredible tutor for me the past 2 semesters. I have done two different subjects with her, and she has been able to guide me to achieve the best I can.

She has a gentle approach that allows even those not very confident to feel confident asking questions or sharing opinions. For BCMB20002 her notes were incredibly thorough which helped since some of the lectures were unclear to me.

I highly recommend Gemma as a tutor. She will bring out the very best in you.

Gemma has been absolutely amazing helping me with both editing, and tutoring in two subjects, Advanced techniques in Molecular Science and Protein Structure and function. Her notes for both subjects were incredibly helpful in helping me understand difficult topics like NMR. Highly recommend gemma as a tutor, also very friendly and nice to work with!😊
