The assessments were altered this semester (for the better) which if you stay on top of each week makes it relatively easy to get good marks. A good mix of financial and management accounting so still relevant to anyone studying business even if you're not majoring in accounting. The tutorials complimented the lectures well and really helped to understand the more financial components and calculations.

I have studied accounting in a previous life and I thought this was one of the better way it is run. There is more of a focus on the management side of accounting rather than the bookkeeping side. This is appropriate for a non-accounting major (as I am).

This subject looks at accounting not just at the numbers aspect, but the concept of 'businesses being accountable to stakeholders'. They really emphasise this in the first couple of weeks. It is quite simple, so long as you read the topic notes. The exam is very similar to the case study you have been doing all year. Lectures can at times feel dry, tutorials at least for me were very helpful. Good subject.

wtf..I studied this subject last semester in 2016 and this was literally the best subject I have learned. It convinced me to change major from business management to accountancy. So, i decided to become a tutor for this subject. Today, this subject is nothing like what I studied 6 months ago. It shifts its focus towards broader aspects of accounting (all those crappy discussions about social and environmental accounting) Why the eff would RMIT do this?? this subject is so awful now. Really bad lecture slides, just teach them how to make financial reports!!

If you don't have accounting basic, make sure you attend all the lecture, buy the textbook and revise it before class. Do some sample questions in the textbooks if you not familiar with it .

it is very simple and easy to understand

Make sure you complete all set questions before class! Don't waste time doing them in class when you could be asking questions!
