This subject provides a good foundation for all forms of legal documentation skills needed during a Law degree. It can be a little daunting but as long as you communicate with the tutor you should be able to really pick up some useful skills in writing client letters, memorandums and advices.

While instruction was sometimes unclear, the research skills gained are priceless, In my opinion this should be a first semester subject!

My least favourite subject so far. Lost a bunch of marks in the final assessment because I had my text centred rather than on the left. Funny, considering the author of our prescribed text on how to write (Nicola Corbett-Jarvis) was my teacher at JCU and says to ALWAYS centre text *violent eyeroll*. In short, a subject that is definitely helpful, but incredibly vague as to expectations.

The marking criteria need to be more clearly defined, I would ask your tutor specifically what they would require for a 7 in each category. Seemed vague across the board...

I had a positive experience with the unit overall. My only criticism is the occasional unclear expectation, but I suppose this is inherent in all writing-based units.
