Top reviews from Australia

Currently working through the chapter on medical issues(pp.257-267), and noticed where authors referred to 'faith', they also refer to God, church, Christian doctrines and practices, without reference to other belief systems, theistic or otherwise. Also noticed 'gay lifestyle' was included among high-risk behaviours related to STI and HIV. Definitely wondering about cultural encapsulation, reminded of the need to think critically about the authors' suggestions in the context of inclusive and anti-oppressive practice, which would greatly enhance the relevance and utility of this resource for those practising with clients from culturally diverse backgrounds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Source for Counselors and Counseling Students Alike!

All of the Homework Planners, Treatment Planners, and Progress Notes Planners by Jongsma et al. are incredible tools! I am in my Masters program, and I have used these books over and over and over--especially in the 2nd year of my Masters Counseling Program. I cannot say enough about this group of texts. First, let me say that the books seem to follow Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques most, but I find it easy to tweak the exercises, etc., to fit other therapies, not to mention the fact that there are suggestions that run a gamut of different ideologies.

Past that, I love the fact that the TREATMENT PLANNERS offer "Short-Term Objectives," "Long-Term Goals," and "Therapeutic Interventions." It also gives some of the common "Behavioral Definitions" for each diagnosis and leaves plenty of room for notes. One of the absolute most helpful tools is that it lists "Diagnostic Suggestions" or differential diagnosis for each category along with the DSM-5 and DSM-4 code numbers.
The HOMEWORK PLANNERS offer exercises in the form of handouts that clients can take home. The questions for each diagnoses are relevant, open-ended, and made to enhance critical thinking about the symptoms/issues/situations clients may be facing.

The PROGRESS NOTES PLANNERS use professional language that is easy to understand, while at the same time specific and relevant.

If I were going to be seeing several different ages of clients, etc., and if I was just starting my library of Jongsma et al. Planners, I would start with the Adult Psychotherapy Treatment Planner, The Group Therapy Treatment Planner, and the Adolescent Therapy Treatment Planner and work my way down from there. I would not (and am not) going to stop until I have them all because, for example, the Adult Psychotherapy Treatment Planner does cover marital infidelity, but the Couples Therapy Treatment Planner goes into so much more detail; therefore, these books are great from so many angles!! Anyway, I could on and on, but I will stop there except to say, you won't go wrong with these!

3.0 out of 5 stars A knockoff for the original, but win-win for the content.

The 3 stars are only for the context of the book. It is literally less time consuming, a whole new diaspora of what I can actually help with my clients.
I wish I had this earlier on as a student while preparing for my Masters. Considering how unhelpful my professors were for our practical questions. This answers all of it & I get so much more clarity & closure & KNOWLEDGE as a professional to make it customisable for my different clients who come to me. Short term & long term.
    Forever grateful to this author.

Now the textbook condition, this is definitely a cheap copy of the original. I have seen the original & its much different in better quality.
As you can see, the cover is damaged in many parts of the area. The pages however are alright, a few pages at the corners are damaged, the quality is good enough, smooth to the touch & to write down notes without creating a mess in ball pen. Gel pens however might bleed through to the next page.

This is definitely not worth INR 2,799. I bought it at a cheaper rate but the actual cost without the discount is priced at INR 3k-5k.
