Journalism: Investigation and Research Paperback – 15 November 2002
by
Stephen Tanner
(Author)
A focus on journalism education in Australia
Investigative Journalism, edited by Stephen Tanner is a timely addition to journalism education in Australia. This book aims to provide both a practical and theoretical framework for investigative journalism. The text argues that the broad skills and orientation required for investigative journalism (investigation and research) should form the foundation of credible journalism whether it is classified as 'investigative journalism' or news reporting and gathering. These skills of investigation and research are transferable across all media. To demonstrate this the editor has carefully chosen contributions from practitioners and academics that specialise in print media, television and radio. The text is unashamedly a 'how to' book. To achieve that goal, it has drawn on many of Australia's best-known journalism educators and journalists, as well as specialists in other areas. Among the journalists there is a selection of Walkley award winners, journalists who have been recognised by their peers for their outstanding journalism skills.
