5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and extremely beneficial!
Verified PurchaseThis book is extremely helpful when learning about cleft palate and craniofacial anomalies. The extent of information covered is perfect for readers of all kinds because not only does it go into tremendous detail about necessary topics to learn for the field of speech pathology, but Dr. Kummer has written it in a way that makes it very easy to follow and comprehend. Examples, pictures, and techniques are provided which makes it very relevant for the reader to see how this information can be applied clinically. While this textbook's focus is on cleft palate and craniofacial anomalies, the knowledge that Dr. Kummer shares can be applied across many populations. The access code is a great additional resource that provides notes to assist in reading the chapters, very helpful handouts, and videos. I would definitely recommend this textbook, as it will serve as a helpful resource well into the future. Overall, an excellent textbook!

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE FOR ALL PEOPLE AND PARENTS WORKING WITH CHILDREN WITH CLEFTS
Verified PurchaseWhen you have a child with a cleft you always hope that after all the surgery and procedures ordeal your son endures for many years, that he will speak as close to normal as it is possible. Big concerns and anguish arise if the child struggles with resonance issues or VPI, and sounds nasal ,most of the time. Unfortunately, as parents we sometimes face untrained people who are at a loss about your son's VPI issues, especially in developing countries, and therefore your son's prognosis remains uncertain. Not all children, have the chance to be attended by such excellent professionals as Ms Kummer. But we do have her book. This amazingly comprenhensive book will clear the picture for you, even if you are a parent and not a professional, it will help you understand all you need to know about your child's cleft and resonance issues, from surgery to adequate speech therapy. And you will be really empowered to look for the the help your child needs.
