In college when I studied calculus, linear algebra, probability, statistics, numerical analysis and optimization I studied from good books like
Calculus, Vol. 1: One-Variable Calculus, with an Introduction to Linear Algebra
by Tom M. Apostol
and
Calculus, Vol. 2: Multi-Variable Calculus and Linear Algebra with Applications to Differential Equations and Probability
by Tom M. Apostol
Those books are very good even for a Mathematics degree level but they are very dry.
And along the years I have read for pleasure good books on calculus like Calculus
by Michael Spivak and perls like Calculus Made Easy by Thompson and Gardner, but this book the Engineering Mathematics by Prof Anthony Croft is the best book by all measures, it’s really alive, it’s a 1024 page books that you read like a novel, it’s that good!
It covers all the mathematics that you need for a heavy mathematics course like Electrical Engineering Masters degree, it’s all there waiting for you to study from it.
I like it so much that that I own 2 copies, one for me and one for my daughter waiting for the next several years that she will have the age to go to college, this book is that good! Because I know that math along with physics are the fundamentals building blocks of everything in science, in engineering and in research.
And it break my heart to see that this book has only two reviews, how can this pearl have so little reviews, it deserves to be on the tops of amazon search for college mathematics and calculus books.
Best regards,
João Nuno Carvalho
