About the Author

Bill Nelson has worked for two global Fortune 100 companies in information technologies for over 32 years, including 18-plus years in corporate digital forensics and information security. In addition, he has taught digital forensics classes at the City University of Seattle and the University of Washington's Professional and Continuing Education Department for 10 years. He also has experience in Automated Fingerprint Identification System software engineering and reserve police work. A former president and vice president for Computer Technology Investigators Northwest, he routinely lectures at several colleges and universities in the Pacific Northwest.

Christopher K. Steuart is a practicing attorney and one of the founding shareholders of IT Forensics, Inc. He is licensed in the State of Washington and before the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. For thirteen years he was a computer forensic examiner and information security specialist for the Boeing Company. He served as an Electronic Warfare Officer and Special Security Officer (SSO) in the United States Army and the United States Army Reserve.

He has presented classes and seminars including continuing legal education on physical security of information systems, investigation of criminal misuse of computers. He has presented at regional and national forums: the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), Agora, Northwest Computer Technology Crime Analysis Seminar (NCT), Computer Technology Investigators Network (CTIN) and he has been an adjunct faculty member of City University.

Mr. Steuart is a co-author (with H. William “Bill” Nelson and Amelia Phillips of Guide to Computer Forensics and Investigations 1st-4th Edition. In addition, he is a co-author with Amelia Phillips, Ronald Godfrey and Christine Brown of the new textbook E-Discovery: An Introduction to Digital Evidence. He also co-author with David C. Eisler of The Digital Forensic Expert's-Guide to Success In Cross-Examination.

He has been interviewed on the subject of computer forensics on National Public Radio's Morning Edition. He consulted in support of the defense and advised the defense computer forensics team in United States v. Sami Omar Al-Hussayen. He is currently an instructor in the University of Washington Digital Forensics Certificate Program.

He is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and of Drake University Law School with a Juris Doctor degree.The staff of IT Forensics Inc. has a record of excellence in digital forensics from our predecessor organization, the Law Office of Christopher K. Steuart. Our extensive experience in; information technology security, electronic evidence recovery and analysis, and expert witness testimony have been applied with a Fortune 10 corporation and government services.
