Excellent book for my purposes, good bargain
Reviewed in the United States on 19 November 2020Verified Purchase
I studied chemistry many years ago, but have recently wanted a refresher on certain basic topics. I am a semi-retired instrument designer (mostly NMR), but that doesn't mean that certain particular details aren't rusty. For me any edition of a book newer than 30 years is good, so getting a "one edition back" version more than suits my purpose. The authors clearly explain the major topics, and I even can do some of the homework problems and check my own work. Thus it is easily adapted to self study.

Needed it for school
Reviewed in the United States on 7 August 2013Verified Purchase
I rented this book because I needed it for school. I honestly didn't use it so I can't say if it was helpful, plus I feel like that would depend on your teacher's plan for the semester. I rented the book instead of buying it. I rented it for like twenty bucks, which you can't beat. Plus I didn't need to pay for shipping it back. All I had to do was print out the shipping label, went to a UPS store and pay for the package to send it back in. It was like maybe three dollars. It was nice. If you are going to get a text book, rent them from Amazon. It's easier and cheaper.

Nothing To Wrote Home About -- But Servicable
Reviewed in the United States on 28 September 2012Verified Purchase
Product came as expected, looks and feels like a used textbook -- not falling apart or severely marked, just sort of drab. Writing and content style is reminiscent of a textbook for younger students; however, I think that is to be expected when someone tries to present something as -- generally -- dry as chemistry in an entertaining manner. Haven't noticed any mistakes in the solutions in the back of the book. So far very pleased with the product.

Meh

It's a chemistry book so you know what to expect. The only issue I have is the writer seems to write to an audience that are graduate students, not undergraduates. That being said... It's a chem book...
