This is an excellent work and is a useful reference for people wanting to understand more than just excel vba.

it has good sections for excel yes but also it includes Vba for other MS applications.

If you want to work purely in excel then this is useful but buy it alongside a dedicated excel book.

Mastering VBA (Mastering)
I have only just started to use this book to learn VBA.
It is clear and concise and structured to lead a novice from basic macros through to more complex VBA scripting.
The examples and lessons cover Word, Excel and Powerpoint at the same time showing any differences between the programs.
It is well worth a look for people who use these packages but have not yet dabbled in VBA.

2.0 out of 5 stars No follow-through

This book is OK. Well written and funny with a basic introduction to VBA, but somehow not very useful. The most irritating aspect was that it repeatedly introduced a topic and the associated fundamentals but it did not follow through to real, practical examples or explanations. It simply stopped and went on to the next topic or introduced a random statement that, for the life of me, I could not work out. You couldn't transcribe what was written into a working script for your own use... surely the objective of the book in the first place.

There are definitely better books out there (and worse I am sure)
