This dictionary covers UK, US and EU law. There are some degrees of coverage with emphasis on the UK and the US. It is the best educational resource for newbie students on Law out there and is the easiest dictionary. It is also meant for laypersons to understand legal terms. I have also the Oxford dictionary of law and this is way easier to read and understand. What do we have in this awesome book? A pronunciation guide to help you pronounce terms correctly. The terms are not just legal nouns but also verbs, adjectives.. used in law. Every term has examples of usage: i.e. phrases taken either from the media or from acts/legal discourse that show you how it is used. At the end of the dictionary, you have supplements explaining the legislative procedure in the UK parliament, the legislative powers in the devolved UK parliaments/assemblies, the legislative procedures in the EU, the legislative procedures in the US (stages of a bill), an explanation on the jury service, the type of sentences, the structures of the courts system in UK, US and EU. As if this is not enough, you have many suggested web resources: blogs, resources for lawyers, professional bodies and legal resources for laypersons.

Very useful for ILEC
Reviewed in Italy on 7 January 2015Verified Purchase
A a non-native speaker I found this book very useful for my ILEC preparation, I think that it perfectly matches with Bloomsbury's "Check Your English Vocabulary for Law" as a reference tool for terms. Some definitions may be too concise, but they're always clear and precise
