Samuel Beckett was born in Dublin in 1906. He was educated at Portora Royal School and Trinity College, Dublin, where he graduated in 1927. His made his poetry debut in 1930 with Whoroscope and followed it with essays and two novels before World War Two. He wrote one of his most famous plays, Waiting for Godot, in 1949 but it wasn't published in English until 1954. Waiting for Godot brought Beckett international fame and firmly established him as a leading figure in the Theatre of the Absurd. He received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969. Beckett continued to write prolifically for radio, TV and the theatre until his death in 1989.

I confess to being near obsessed with Waiting for Godot, I've read the play twice, watched it performed on Youtube twice. Malloy is also quite well done. I seldom read books or plays more than once, not so with Beckett. His stuff I read and read again.

This is a great anthology of Beckett's works. It's very lightweight, and the text is formatted well & easy to read. The publisher didn't include a preface, introduction, or author biography, which I think was a good decision. There are countless books about Beckett, but this one focuses on his work and only on his work.

The book arrived in pristine condition and well ahead of schedule. It was estimated to be arriving between Friday, August 30th and Monday, September 23rd. To my delight, it arrived today (Saturday, August 24th) - much sooner than expected! I really appreciate the speed of the shipping, as I was hoping to be able to read this book before my classes start in September. Thank you for such a great purchasing experience! :)

Beckett dropped here from mercury. They cod on he's from Foxrock! He sucked up more than his share, leaving no juice for me. I blame him for my failures. I blame him for the extra hole I have to put in my belt leather. I haven't done a solid discharge in three years, even my excreta can't wait to be shot of me. Why did you have to be so whet Samuel? Why so precise? You could have left a small bit for me. Just a morsel. xx
