Alan Marcus is Professor of Finance in the Wallace E. Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He received his Ph.D. from MIT, has been a visiting professor at MIT’s Sloan School of Management and the Athens Laboratory of Business Administration, and has served as a Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research, where he participated in both the Pension Economics and the Financial Markets and Monetary Economics Groups. Professor Marcus also spent two years at the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac), where he helped to develop mortgage pricing and credit risk models. Professor Marcus has published widely in the fields of capital markets and portfolio theory. He is co-author of the widely-used texts Investments, Essentials of Investments (with Z. Bodie and A. Kane) and Fundamentals of Corporate Finance (with R. Brealey and S. Myers). He currently serves on the Research Foundation Advisory Board of the CFA Institute.

Ich habe mir, nicht zuletzt wegen teils diffuser Äußerungen anderer Leser, dazu verleiten lassen, gleich eine Armada an "Finance"-Büchern zu bestellen. Ich fing zunächst an mit "Corporate Finance, Global Edition" von Brealey, Myers and Allen und fand das Buch vertiefend, aber nicht intuitiv genug. Anstatt die nötige rechnerische Praxis zu liefern, erhält man dennoch einen guten Überblick über wichtige Trends wie z.B. vergangene Ereignisse wie die SubPrime-Krise. Dann bestellte ich mir den "Ross, Westerfield, Jordan" und wurde mehr in meiner mathematischen Ader befriedigt. Das Buch war sehr intuitiv einleuchtend, flüssig geschrieben ohne zu "casual" zu wirken und hinterlässt einen mit dem Gefühl die Dinge irgendwie auch gleich in die Praxis umsetzen zu können. Aufgrund einiger positiver Äußerungen habe ich mir dann schließlich auch den "kleinen" Ableger "Fundamentals" von Brealey, Meyers and Marcus geholt und empfand ihn mehr oder weniger als Klon des "Ross". Da die "outside U.S."-Ausgaben allgemein etwas billiger sind, sollte hier allein der Preis entscheiden. Alle drei Bücher kann ich nur empfehlen.

Auch wenn ich mir lieber ein Calvin&Hobbes-Buch gekauft hätte, brauch ich dieses Buch leider fürs Studium.
Aber dafür ist es sehr gut verständlich. Und Günther Oettinger sagte schon, dass jeder in Zukunft Englisch sprechen können muss.
Also zur Kenntniserlangung in Sachen Finance benötigt man wirklich kein englischer Native-Speeker zu sein, um aus diesem Buch zu lernen, eben auch wegen der Beispiele
Ich finde es sehr empfehlenswert...
