Simple, effective self-teaching!
Reviewed in the United States on 7 April 2011Verified Purchase
This product has been extremely beneficial and a pleasure to use. I have researched many self-teaching mathematics books and found most to be helpful to those with a strong mathematic background, not your average individual. However, this book explains the terminology, the step by step and most importantly why. Explaining why you use the formulas, processes and a brief history of their creation makes a world of difference in the understanding of the subject matter! It also presents the material in a personable manner, making pop cultural references and implementing humor in each chapter, this helps keep the reader in touch with the author. So you basically feel as if you are being taught by an everyday person rather then a PHD in mathematics. I loved using this product as a refresher and a teaching aid for my boyfriend, who is studying to get his GED. I highly recommend this product!

Great Book!

I love all the demystified books. They all seem to encompass everything you need to know for a certain subject. To me, these books are way better than the Dummies books. The layouts are great and they pack in a lot of knowledge into these books.

For people who don't have a common IQ
Reviewed in the United States on 16 October 2011Verified Purchase
I may be stupid... I admit Geometry and trig has always been a stumbling block for me. I just feel that they expect you to process way too much. This book is for people who either already has a firm grasp on Geometry or has a high IQ. Some of the problems are just way too upper level for me. They give you a bunch of quizes with the answer true enough, but I feel that they should step you through every answer they give at least a little bit. Instead of giving you some hard problem then the answer with no way to tell you how to get the answer. Just my opinion. Maybe I want too much. But, geometry is very hard for me. There's a lot of short cuts you can do. But, step me through it all not just the reading material part of the book. Which brings me to another complaint. I'm not one who likes to read a lot of mathmatics. Just tell me a little bit then give me alots of examples and walk me through. Not just give me a whole narrative on congruency. I may have the wrong idea though.

Great basic information on a simple format. Easily understood even if you have never taken geometry. Also the way it breaks down the different aspects and then puts it all together.
