About the Author

Professor James Arvanitakis researches in the transdisciplinary areas of globalisation, citizenship, young people, security and the cultural commons - incorporating issues around hope, trust, safety and intellect. Arvanitakis graduated with his PhD in 2006 and was promoted to full professor in 2013 following the rare achievement of being granted an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Grant as well as being recipient of the 2012 Prime Ministers University Teacher of the Year Award.
