About the author

Peter Abrahams – “criminally gifted” according to the New York Times Book Review - is the Edgar-award winning author of thirty-seven novels. Named by Stephen King as his “favorite American suspense novelist,” Abrahams is a writer of great range, his work including boundary-pushing crime novels such as Oblivion and End of Story as well as the dog-narrated and New York Times bestselling Chet and Bernie series (written under his pen name, Spencer Quinn), which “radiate pure comic genius” according to Publishers Weekly. On NPR’s Talk of the Nation, Laura Miller called him “the best writer of psychological fiction around.” He also writes for middle-graders - the Queenie and Arthur series, written under the Quinn pen name, began with Ruff vs. Fluff in 2019. Abrahams was born in Boston, graduated from Williams College, and lives on Cape Cod. You can visit him at peterabrahams.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book and in great condition!
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseWhile reading a review on "The Atlas of The Human Body" here on Amazon; I came across a review on "How The Body Works" which is by the same author, Dr. Peter Abrahams. I decided to take a chance on one of the sellers and bought it used. The book arrived super fast, well packaged and in great condition! It is a thicker and heavier paperback (the atlas book is much thinner) but I believe that the material in both books is exactly the same; having already seen the atlas at a local book store. Both books are full of pictures and great descriptions for each body system. This is an awesome book! Although not as in depth as a medical student would probably need; it works for the rest of us. I love Amazon.com! And I'm glad I can find the books I need (and want) used from different sellers at great prices, and in very good condition. So far I have not been dissappointed with any of my used book purchases :)

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY good book!
Verified PurchaseThis book has everything from how the ear works to information about RNA and DNA. It also has a section about the reproductive system (male and female) that gives facts and respectable animated photos. If someone is looking for a book for their teenager that is interested in all different kinds of Science related subjects, this is the book! I found that the reproductive sections are more informative and 'grown up' than a lot of the puberty books out there. Would definitely recommend this book for any age.
